Overview
This diver's watch is a modern reissue of a classic MWC model from the 1980s. Originally recreated for a U.S. contractor securing a major client order, it features a robust stainless steel case and is powered by a high-performance, 24-jewel NH35A automatic self-winding movement.

We’ve made several key upgrades to the original design, including a scratch- and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal and improved water resistance—making it a superb modern tool watch built for real-world use.

Historical & Technical Background
This model takes inspiration from the 1980 UK Ministry of Defence specification for automatic diver’s watches (DEF STAN 66-4 [Part 1] Issue 3). It retains hallmark features such as the unidirectional bezel and clearly legible dial, originally marked with tritium.

In this modern version, we’ve swapped the now-obsolete tritium for non-radioactive Luminova and replaced the original mineral glass crystal with ultra-durable sapphire. The final two images show a scan of the original MOD spec file.

Why Choose This Model?
With its military heritage, modern enhancements, and competitive pricing, this watch offers outstanding value for anyone seeking a rugged, high-performance automatic diver’s watch.

Whether you're using it professionally or for daily wear, it's a reliable companion that blends history and modern watchmaking.

Why Sapphire Crystal?
Sapphire is the gold standard for watch crystals—exceptionally hard, highly scratch-resistant, and nearly impossible to shatter under normal conditions.

Over 70% of our customers are military personnel, security forces, police officers, or outdoor professionals—people who need their gear to perform under pressure. In our experience, over 90% of cracked crystal cases involve mineral glass, even the hardened type.

Sapphire crystals are also heat-treated to eliminate internal stresses, adding to their toughness. Finished with two layers of anti-reflective coating, the crystal on this model offers excellent clarity and performance. (Fun fact: modern iPhones also use sapphire in key areas due to these same properties.)

While sapphire adds cost, it pays for itself in durability and performance—and is typically found only on higher-end timepieces.
