SKU Code: MKIII/SS/1224UNB
This MKIII variant is identical to the MKIII/AU/SS/1224 except that both its dial and caseback are unbranded, a feature many MWC clients request. This allows easy customization, such as engraving a service number or other personal details. The MKIII Automatic is a faithful recreation of the classic 1950s NATO-specification watches produced under the UK Ministry of Defence reference 6B/346 Mk XI. Although it closely resembles the originals, it now benefits from greatly improved accuracy, courtesy of a modern 24-jewel automatic movement with a 41-hour power reserve and a hacking function.
In today’s world, strict budget constraints prevent most modern military forces from investing in this level of quality when cheaper alternatives suffice. Historically, militaries worldwide purchased watches from brands like Rolex, IWC, Omega, and Longines, but those days have passed. Many enthusiasts still desire a military-style watch that looks authentic yet boasts higher specifications. That’s why we offer the MKIII series. We spare no expense—this includes a high-performance movement and a brushed stainless steel case inspired by 1950s/60s designs and hand-finished in Zurich. We’ve also upgraded the watch with a scratch- and shatter-resistant sapphire crystal featuring a non-reflective coating.
With a screw-down caseback and crown, the MKIII is highly accurate, exceptionally robust, and water-resistant to 100m (330ft).

*Many customers ask about the advantages of sapphire crystal compared to standard mineral crystal. Synthetic sapphire is the best material available for watch crystals due to its exceptional strength, shatter resistance, and scratch resistance. These qualities make it especially appealing to military and security personnel, police officers, and those with active outdoor lifestyles—groups that comprise over 70% of our customer base.
For context, when customers report cracked crystals, more than 90% of these incidents involve mineral glass. Even hardened mineral crystals cannot match sapphire’s durability under adverse conditions. After manufacture, sapphire glass is heat-treated to remove internal stresses before being formed into watch crystals, then finished with two layers of anti-reflective coating. Interestingly, sapphire crystal is now also used in the latest iPhones. While sapphire does cost more, it’s typically reserved for higher-end watches, where its superior performance and durability are well worth the investment.
